The Sluggin’ Senoritas keep on Sluggin in Week 7 Seven!
The Sluggin’ Senoritas won both their games on Sunday. They eked out a win against the Cherry Bomb Pops 7 – 6 and beat the Blazing Saddles 11 – 5.
The Sunset Sluggers and the Cactus Wrens tied 11 – 11. Games can end in ties in our league.
Some notes from the past few weeks keeping in mind we do not have divisions yet. Every team has new and seasoned players and we want to ensure all players can feel a part of the team. We strive to teach new players and hone seasoned players. Everyone can improve!
1) Good Sportsmanship is important to all of us running this league. We’ve had some issues but it seems to be good overall. Yelling at someone to drop the ball while running to a base is considered bad sportsmanship and the umpire will give a warning, and the next time you will be out.
2) A team gets one ball over the fence PER GAME! If another occurs, that batter will be out.
3) We are going to require that each team give a copy of its line-up to the other coach before the game. We usually do that when the coaches meet at the plate. We’ve been lax in the league, but it is a requirement in tournaments (and most leagues).
4) If a team bats out of order, it is up to the other team to bring it up, not the scorekeeper. It is difficult for most teams to keep their own scorebook, but maybe ask someone to do it for you. You can bat up to 12 players. Any additional players must be “subbed” in.
5) It is highly recommended that pitchers wear a mask . . . Barb!
6) If a community bat is used, please make sure it goes back on the fence.
7) You can pick up players up to 10, unless it’s for a pitcher. A pitcher can be picked up regardless of how many players are on a team.
8) There are 2 courtesy runners per inning and can be anybody on the bench. Make sure (Sheryl) that you do not use a courtesy batter that is coming up to bat. The pitcher also has an automatic courtesy runner if they choose.
Thanks to our umpires James and Jerry and to all the fans that come to watch their favorite teams playing. Our league is growing and we had 2 new players join this week. It’s not too late to register!!
